An exceptional and grand 19th century figural crocodile inkwell.

A large spelter crocodile with a double inkwell concealed within his back, it has the original ceramic ink pots which are a white glazed earthenware both marked on the base H.

It is very realistically modelled and finished in a silvery gray, it is a work of art for the desktop, it's silver tones lend themselves perfectly to a plethora of decor styles from modern contemporary to period Victorian.

Heavy and well made this is a good piece of Victorian craftsmanship and highlights the fascination of the era with all creatures great and small.

Condition:
Overall condition is very good, ink pots have no chips or cracks, surface marks on the spelter internally, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, some ink staining on the pots.

Approx 10" in length, 6.5" width and 2.5" height.
