A beautiful antique French inkwell crafted from solid marble, ormolu and bronze.
Mid 19th century it is a single inkwell that stands on a pedestal base of marble with a gadrooned and fluted bronze pillar.
There is a further marble section that houses the ormolu inkwell, the lid is made from solid bronze and is surmounted by a pretty dove.
The dove is surrounded by foliage and fruit and it has a lovely deep aged patina, the marble is a dark grey with almost gold coloured accents and lighter grey shades running through.
It is a fine piece in very good condition.
Slight rusting to the rivet underneath, a couple of tiny chips to the marble base but only noticeable on close inspection.
Approx measurements:
5"Height
2.75" diameter (base)
