An interesting antique Georgian era cut steel and jet spinner brooch.
Circular shaped with a cut steel cabochon outer ring, the inner ring is made up of tiny carved jet circles with a cut steel bead on the top.
This leads onto a larger jet circle to the centre and it resembles a flower.
The innermost rows are affixed to a spinner mechanism and spin around when pushed making a lovely feature.
The fittings and mount are made from brass, it has an old C type clasp also made from brass and this is also fixed to a spinner so the brooch can be opened from any position.
English make late 18th / early 19th century Georgian era.
Good condition overall, age commensurate wear and use, some rusting to some of the steel beads, some tiny chips in the jet, see photos.
Approx measurements:
2" diameter and 0.5" depth
