A gorgeous antique Georgian silver and paste buckle.
Heavy sterling silver set with large sparkling black dot paste in an elliptical shape, the inner edges have a slim gold trim giving it extra sparkle.
This Georgian beauty has certainly lived, it started out life as a buckle, was converted to a brooch and then converted back to a buckle.
It currently has a fine 9ct gold wire going through the back of the buckle points where it would have been originally.
We show it displayed here as a choker though it could be used as a buckle for a sash belt.
The piece is very heavy and very well made.
Can easily be removed from the velvet choker and could be doing with a slimmer band but makes for a very pretty necklace, can be sent with or without.
Unmarked tests as sterling silver and 9ct gold.
Good condition overall, multiple conversions, one paste replaced for a slightly smaller one, see photos, overall surface wear and light scratches.
Buckle width 2" width, 1.25" height and weighs approx 18.38 grams
Choker 12.5" length on the smallest fastening, 14.5" length on the longest fastening and 2" width
