A very attractive set indeed and they make the grandest antique pendant for the lover of antique jewellery or the Medal enthusiast.
A late Victorian Pinchbeck guard chain, nice full length with round belcher links and dog clip.
Attached via the clip is the most grand Imperial Germany shooting club medal, it is formed in a composite multi part structure with such attention to detail.
Round insert to the centre with a gilded coat of arms, this is set into a gunmetal base and surrounded by a delicate floral and leaf outer border, also in gunmetal, there are then elaborate Art Nouveau petal type arches which themselves are elaborately carved and gilded.
The back tests as silver of at least 800 and is engraved with Dem Schutzenkonig (The Protecting King), 1882.
The front surrounding the coat of arms also has the clubs name; Schutzen Verein Eintracht Geldern, which opened in the 1840's and is still open today as a sporting facility.
