A very intricate Victorian hairwork watch chain / Albert chain, it has attractive gilt metal caps, embossed and engraved.
Dog clip fastening also gilt metal with a large decorative gilt ball charm.
It also has attached to the bottom an early 19th century gold ratchet key for a pocket watch, the ratchet key has some wear and a small split in the gold revealing its steel inner, outer casing is unmarked but tests as 18 carat gold.
These early ratchet keys are highly sought after and overall this is a lovely interesting Albert chain.
Approx 6.5" total length, 1" key length, 1.5" charm circumference
Good condition overall, some wear to the gilt metal and the aforementioned wear to the key, see photos.
