A beautiful, rare antique late 19th century meerschaum and Amber cheroot holder / pipe.

Very finely carved as a ladies leg, the meerschaum forming the top of the flouncy bloomer, there are two different colours of Amber, a light yellowy Amber and a rich dark opaque orange

The light Amber portion of the stem makes up the calf with a sterling silver band which leads to the dark Amber bit which is most interestingly modelled as the lady's shoe.

There is exceptionally great attention to detail on this one, a very well made novelty piece, a little bit of tongue in cheek Victorian humour and very well executed at that.

A further bowl can be added at the end but it does not come with one and has been used as a cheroot / cigar holder.

It comes all packed safely in its original leather bound and velvet lined case which is also shaped.

Silver band is unmarked tests as sterling silver.

Good used condition overall, rich patina to the meerschaum, charring evident, small chips in the meerschaum around the rim, the bit has been repaired and the repair is visible, some internal cracking to the calf area Amber.

Approx measurements: (out of case)
4" total length
1" diameter at the large end
