An exceptionally well carved antique, late Victorian meerschaum pipe, designed as an Eagle claw grasping an egg.

The claw and egg make up the bowl and it has so much attention to detail from top to bottom, a very well done piece and a nice substantial size too.

It has an engraved sterling silver collar, hallmarked for Birmingham, 1900, maker George Stockwell.

The stem / mouthpiece is a replacement and it is made from an egg yolk yellow celluloid, it is well fitted to the bowl and the collar is very snug.

The bowl has a graduating patina.

It does come with the original velvet lined case but this is badly damaged, one hinge is pulled away, this appears to have happened as part of the stem replacement, the new stem is not quite the exact shape and someone has tried to force the case closed and broke it.

Condition:
Good used condition overall, smoked and light charring of the bowl, replacement stem, damaged case.

Approx measurements: (out of case)
6.75" total length, 2.5" bowl height and 3.25" stem length.
