A fine antique hand painted Russian snuff box, mid to late 19th century.
It has a detailed image to the lid of a man in a rural / farm setting by a lit fire, he is wearing traditional civilian dress but the costume is that of an earlier period.
Black lacquered composite box made from wood and papier mache with metal hinges.
Good overall condition, a couple of tiny chips, some crazing to the paintwork, see photos.
Lovely piece for the collector.
