A beautiful antique, Victorian sterling silver bangle in the aesthetic manner.
Pretty engraving with great attention to detail featuring flowers, foliate and two swallows in flight,the corners are finished with scrolling borders filled with ivy.
The swallow representing safe travel and return home from travel, perhaps a gift from a sailor to his love as a promise to return home.
Ivy represents, everlasting and eternity being a hardy evergreen and has been used in jewellery for centuries with the same meaning.
This bangle has a full set of Victorian hallmarks, Sterling silver, Birmingham, 1886, makers mark present but partially rubbed.
0.5" width with a push catch opening and original safety chain.
Overall condition is good, some minor dings and a small shallow dent on the left.
Approx 7¼" circumference.
