An interesting Victorian mourning style brooch.
Gilt and black enamel painted front with a large red enamelled stone.
It is reminiscent of a typical mourning style brooch but with a brighter edition of the deep red.
The brooch reverse is made from base metal and has an old C type clasp with pin, it also has a small loop added to be worn as a pendant.
Solder can be seen around the pin which indicates this may have been replaced at some point.
It is a very heavy piece, the central stone really adds some weight to it.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some wear to the gilt and enamel, soft solder to the reverse and a little wear to the base metal.
Approx measurements:
2.25" width
1.75" length
0.5" depth
