An attractive antique 9ct gold stick pin.

A 9ct yellow gold stick pin with a horseshoe shaped terminal.

The horseshoe has a decorative design with the nails engraved and a floral detailing at the top.

A popular symbol in Victorian jewellery was the horseshoe or lucky horseshoe, said to bring good luck or fortune to the wearer.

The stick pin also known as a tie or cravat pin started out its journey in the early 19th century as a staple of a wealthy gentleman's attire, securing a scarf or cravat, they later became popular with ladies too being worn on a lapel or to secure a scarf.

Throughout jewellery history the stick pin has remained a popular and versatile piece of jewellery, the ability to wear it in so many ways means you certainly get a lot of use from them, from a hat pin to a tie pin, to secure a scarf or to wear on a lapel you are sure to find many ways to wear yours.

This stick pin is fully hallmarked to the pin for 9ct gold but marks are worn, late Victorian era.
