A gorgeous antique Victorian 9ct gold lucky horseshoe brooch.

The horseshoe has for centuries been used in jewellery as a symbol of good luck and featured heavily in Victorian jewellery, the Victorian era saw a great surge in the popularity of jewels with meaning and symbolism and the horseshoe was no exception.

This lovely piece is crafted in 9ct yellow bloomed gold, giving it a higher carat appearance, lightly brushed and polished in different areas highlighting the different areas of the horseshoe.

The bottom rim is engraved with the name Violetta, probably given originally as a good luck gift.

This brooch can be worn in many ways and is a beautiful and versatile piece.

The brooch is fully hallmarked on the reverse though this is significantly worn, late 19th century.

It has an old C type clasp and pin fastener, it is hollow so is lightweight and easy to wear.

Approx measurements:
1.29" length
1.20" width at the widest point

Weighs approx 3.28 grams

Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, the marks are a little rubbed, some light surface wear, small ding to the lower half of the brooch can be seen in the photos.
