A gorgeous little antique, Victorian 9ct gold and split pearl lucky horseshoe brooch.
The horseshoe has for centuries been used in jewellery as a symbol of good luck and featured heavily in Victorian jewellery, the Victorian era saw a great surge in the popularity of jewels with meaning and symbolism and the horseshoe was no exception.
This lovely piece is crafted in 9ct yellow gold and set with creamy seed pearl.
This brooch can be worn in many ways and is a beautiful and versatile piece.
It has an old C type clasp and pin fastener.
Unmarked, tests as 9ct gold, late 19th century.
Approx measurements:
0.95" length
0.80" width at the widest point
Weighs approx 4.06 grams
Condition:
Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, pin is base metal, see split pearls darkened.
