A tremendously good antique riviere necklace.

Early Victorian era this beautiful antique riviere necklace borrows much of its design elements from the Georgian era, it showcases wonderfully rich purple paste stones resembling amethyst, in closed foil backed settings.

The necklace is crafted in sterling silver and is very comfortable to wear owing to the smooth converse silver settings which rest with ease on the neck.

The paste has a faceted oval cut and reflects the light beautifully.

It has the original hook fastener, a fastener type which has been used since the ancient times and this works well, a safety chain could be added for extra security if desired.

Amethyst was a very expensive stone in the early 19th Century and considered rare until large deposits were found later in the 19th century, this made it a very desirable stone and paste was often used in its place due to costs.
