This fine and attractive antique Victorian era 9ct gold cameo brooch is really second to none in its detail and design.
A very finely carved bullmouth shell cameo depicting Hebe feeding nectar to Zeus as the eagle, housed in a smooth and rich 9ct yellow gold frame.
An unusual subject matter, it is always a pleasure to find unusual or unique cameos, this has a beautiful and detailed carving.
To the reverse there is a safety catch and pin fastener and space to attach a safety chain if desired.
This is an exceptionally well carved cameo and these finer cameos are always highly sought after by collectors and jewellery lovers alike, I love the fine details and three dimensional effect of the carving.
Marks and era:
Victorian era c1900, gold frame stamped 9ct, shell not signed.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, light surface wear, commensurate with age.
