A nicely carved bullmouth shell cameo depicting Nyx the Greek goddess and personification of night housed in a 9ct rose gold frame.
An nice subject matter, it is always a pleasure to find unusual or unique cameos, Nyx was a dark deity and was considered the mother or carer of other's such as Hypnos, Erebus and Thanatos (sleep, darkness and death).
It has an old c type clasp and pin fastener and a later 9ct yellow gold safety chain.
Marks and era:
English make, Edwardian era, marked 9ct, c1900s
Condition:
Good used condition overall, light surface wear, commensurate with age.
