A beautiful antique, late Georgian era gold seal fob.
Typically elaborate scrolling reminiscent of the era with a small flower set to the top, a forget me not, symbolic of remembering loved ones near and afar, perhaps used to sign of love letters to a travelling love.
The matrix is a sumptuous rich deep purple amethyst carved with a single gothic P which is surrounded by a buckled belt, yet more symbolism of eternity, fidelity and strength.
It is unmarked, tests as 9ct gold.
Would make a beautiful pendant, Albert chain fob or a really chunky bracelet charm.
A decent sized antique fob, English make, early 19th century.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, light wear to the amethyst with a few tiny nibbles at the facet edges.
Approx measurements:
1" height
0.75" width at the base
0.5" length / depth at the base
Weighs approx 9.66 grams
