A superb pair of antique, Victorian era, Foiled blue paste drop earrings.
Gorgeous antique earrings that are absolutely sure to wow whatever the occasion, flashes of cool blue can be seen with the top and bottom foiled blue paste.
They feature a small round paste stone to the top collet set into 9ct rose gold with a hook fastening for pierced ears.
From the base of this there is a 9ct gold chain length suspending a teardrop shaped drop, this drop features another foiled blue paste and is also set into a closed back collet setting.
Gorgeous shimmer and glimmer in the light, these earrings give ocean goddess type vibes and are perfect for summer months.
Paste is a type of flint glass used in jewellery for centuries though very popular in Roman and Georgian era cultures and revered around the globe as a cheap and most convincing alternative to diamonds.
In the Georgian and Victorian eras adding foil behind gemstones, in particular paste and diamonds, was a common practice with foil highlighting the shine and brilliance of the stones, sometimes this foil was coloured giving colour to the stone above.
