An interesting and rare antique Victorian claw brooch.
Crafted in rich 15ct gold the brooch is designed as a bird, possibly an Eagle or maybe even a gold version of a grouse claw with great attention to detail and fine texturing.
It is set with a single round cut pinky red Ruby.
The detailing is really phenomenal and it is very well made piece.
It has a pin and c type clasp fastener and is fully hallmarked on the reverse.
Hallmarked for 15ct gold, Chester Assay office, 1889.
It is a small dainty piece that is versatile and could be worn a multitude of ways, from a tie or lapel pin to a brooch or scarf pin, it would make an excellent choice for gifting.
