A beautiful antique Georgian era mourning brooch or pin.
A small sized brooch but packed with beautiful details and full of sentiment.
Crafted in rich 9ct yellow gold, it has a central glazed panel containing a lock of plaited blonde hair with brown streaks, the glazed panel is framed with a rich 18ct yellow gold millegrain border.
The brooch is enamelled in black with a slim white enamel outer border, the inner border reads: Sacred to the memory of a departed friend.
The verso is engraved with a personal inscription: Jn " Carter Ob Nov 8th 1810 Ae 70.
It has an old C type clasp and pin fastener, this has a repair with soft solder visible on the pin.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, tiny chip to the onyx, some surface wear commensurate with age, a few tiny nicks to the enamel, repair to the pin.
Unmarked tests as 9ct gold with an 18ct gold millegrain frame.
English make early 1800s, Georgian era.
