These rare antique Victorian silver earrings are simply divine!
Such fine craftsmanship and attention to detail, they are crafted in sterling silver and designed in the Etruscan revival manner as a Globus Cruciger or cross and orb.
The main body of the earrings makes up the globe with intricate wirework banding around each, to the top of each orb there is a finely detailed cross and this leads to the ear wire fitting.
There is just so much detail on this pair and they really are truly exceptional in design and craftsmanship.
No jewellery box is complete without a good pair of antique drop earrings and these definitely stand out from the crowd.
They are quite heavy and though not completely heavy the silver orb is thick and weighty.
Marks and era:
Victorian era, c1860s, unmarked, electronically test as sterling silver.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear, some light surface wear commensurate with age, lots of patina.
