A truly stunning antique Victorian silver tassel necklace.
It is a rare survivor this beautiful necklace, over the years the tassels were often lost or removed and worn as a single pendant, many turned into albertinas or shortened.
This is a Victorian bohemian style beauty with elements of the aesthetic era.
It is composed of a sterling silver rope twist chain with jump rings at intervals which also means the hook fitting can be adjusted slightly for a shorter look.
It terminates at the bottom with a pair of teardrop shaped silver beads and a larger silver bead below, decorated with fine applied silver detailing, from here suspended is a lush swishy Victorian silver tassel with a beaded fringe.
It fastens with a large hook fastener, not the most secure types of fasteners but original to the necklace.
Unmarked, tests as sterling silver, c1880s.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some light surface wear and patina commensurate with age, some light surface wear.
