The most beautiful Victorian sterling silver card case.
A lovely piece engraved front and verso with an all over leaf engraving.
It has elements of the aesthetic era and there is a central cartouche to the front which is monogrammed with initials in fancy script from JCD 1891.
The interior is lined with a dark cobalt blue moire silk and has separate compartments for adding cards.
It comes in the original leather covered box that has a deep purple silk and velvet lining and would make a wonderful gift.
The card case is fully hallmarked with short and long hallmarks, marks for sterling silver, Birmingham assay office 1887, maker Colen Hewer Cheshire.
Approx measurements:
3.25" length
2.25" width
Approx weight 60.05 grams.
Condition:
Very good used condition overall, light surface wear commensurate with age, opens and closes firmly and securely.
