A beautiful and unusual antique sterling silver Cross pendant.
A fairly large sized cross with decorative rounded edges, it is lightweight and quite slim.
The front of the cross is inscribed with a date of 2nd Feb 1907 and has a crowned heart Immaculee Conception.
The reverse has a flaming heart and dagger, representing the Catholic faith and Mary's pain at her sons crucifixion.
There is also Marie D' Haese engraved on the reverse.
This is possibly a piece with its origins in Africa as some of the words translate in a variation of the Bantu language and others in English, possibly made in South Africa.
A very unusual piece with its engravings and a pretty shaped cross.
It is Unmarked, tests as sterling silver, Edwardian era.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some surface wear and signs of use commensurate with age, small dent / bend in the body of the cross, more visible when viewing from the side.
Total weight 3.32 grams.
Approx measurements:
2.05" length with bale
