A scarce and unusual antique Victorian era brooch.
It is modelled as a horseshoe in sterling silver with bi colour, yellow and rose gold foliate overlay around the shoe.
The centre has a sterling silver horses head wearing a bridle with Rose gold rein, beneath the horse there is a pair of crossed horns which extend out to the sides.
The horse has a hollow cut out eye, it first appears there may have been a stone set in the eye but on closer inspection its unlikely.
It is a very unusual, well crafted and substantial brooch with so much attention to detail.
It has an old C type clasp and pin fastener.
Late Victorian era, c1880s, unmarked, tests as silver and 9ct gold.
Approx measurements:
1.4" width
1.5" length
Weighs approx 10.16 grams
Condition:
Good used condition overall, light surface wear commensurate with age, overall patina.
