A stunning antique Victorian sterling silver locket pendant.
A large sized oval locket with a very fancy buckle design front with aesthetic style engraving.
It has a large integral bale, perfect for adding to a long antique chain or a choker style necklace, the bale is stamped with the lion passant for silver.
The buckle was a beloved and heavily used symbol in Victorian jewellery and generally symbolised holding someone close.
It is fully hallmarked for Sterling silver, Birmingham assay office, 1879, maker T & J Brag.
It has glazed covers to each side inside covering red silk.
This is a gorgeous Victorian locket of a good size and it is lovely to find one fully hallmarked as they were very often unmarked and with the glazed covers too!
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some age commensurate wear and signs of use, surface wear and scratches, it has a few small dings to the reverse.
Approx measurements:
1.5" width
2.5" height including the bale.
