A stunning antique, Victorian silver gilt locket.
A large sized locket with an integral bale.
The locket features a garter belt on one side with a leaf engraving to the centre along with a small blank oval cartouche which has not been engraved so could be personalised.
The other side is engraved with the same leaf and floral design, the garter belt is associated with both the order of the garter and also with holding a loved one close.
There are two sides to store photographs, both glazed panels have small clear plastic replacement panels.
Unmarked it tests as sterling silver with an 18ct gold gilt wash, Victorian era c1880s
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some patina and light surface wear.
Approx measurements:
2.1" length with bale
1.25" width
Weight approx 11.64 grams.
