This Antique gold locket is an absolute favourite here at StolenAttic, beautiful and unusual it is a wonderful find.
The locket is crafted in rich buttery 15ct gold with a bloomed gilt finish.
The front is finely decorated in delicate black enamel with turquoise and seed pearl forget me not flowers.
This was very likely a mourning piece, these types of subtle mourning jewellery are always very special and much harder to find, with small hints at being memorial pieces whilst maintaining an overall aesthetically beautiful style.
Black enamel is known to represent death in jewellery, forget me not flowers were commonly used in remembrance jewels and pearls represent tears.
Such a wonderful design.
It has an Integral bale ready to hang from your favourite chain or necklace.
Marks and era:
Victorian era, c1880s, unmarked, electronically tests as 15ct gold.
Condition:
Good used condition overall with signs of age and use, light surface wear commensurate with age, some small dings to the reverse.
Approx measurements:
1.75" length including bale
0.95" width
8.97 grams weight
