A gorgeous antique, late Victorian, 9ct gold crescent and vine leaf brooch.

A beautiful curved crescent in 9ct yellow gold which nestles a pretty lightly engraved vine leaf within.

The twist and curved design bar brooch frames the subject beautifully and makes this an easy to wear and versatile piece.

Crescent moons were a popular motif in Victorian jewellery, they are attributed to a number of meanings from feminine strength to changes or new beginnings / chapters.

Vine leaves or vines can be attributed to symbolism within many cultures though generally are thought to symbolise, fertility, growth, rebirth and freedom.

This brooch can be worn in many ways and is a stunning, versatile piece, it would look great worn on a lapel or even affixed across your favourite gold chain for a celestial twist.

The brooch is fully hallmarked for 9ct gold, the sought after Chester Assay office, 1898.

It has an old C type clasp and pin fastener.

Condition:
Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, pin is base metal and slightly bent, some manufacturers marks / air holes to the beading.
