A beautiful antique, late Edwardian era sterling silver Mizpah brooch.

This brooch is so chocked full of sentiment with something new speaking out every time you look at it.

It is a double entwined heart brooch with the sentimental Mizpah to the centre, Mizpah has biblical connotations, originating from Hebrew and meaning 'watchtower' symbolising togetherness and the Lord watching over those apart.

The hearts are engraved with: The Lord watch between me and thee when we are absent from one another.

There are also tiny ivy leaves symbolising everlasting (love or friendship) and a small faith, hope and charity symbol to the base.

The outer rim has beaded detailing.

So much sentiment and symbolism packed into one brooch.

Marks and era:
Fully hallmarked for sterling silver, Birmingham, 1909, maker Smith Bros.

Approx measurements:
1.80" width
0.75" length

Weighs approx 4.50 grams

Condition:
Good used condition overall, some tarnish to the back and general wear and signs of use, the beading has small holes to the back but these are from manufacture.
