This antique Georgian mourning locket is mesmerisingly beautiful!
Late Georgian era, it is a circular shaped locket pendant with a scrolling edge and the most charming chased and engraved bale.
The front of the pendant is decorated in rich black enamel with In Memory Of picked out in gothic script, to the centre are the words One Forever Dear.
This was obviously created in memory of someone very special.
The reverse of the pendant has a glazed locket compartment containing a spray of hair which has been secured with golden thread.
A truly beautiful Mourning piece, a must have for the mourning jewellery collector.
Marks and era:
Georgian era, c1800s, unmarked, electronically tests as 9ct gold.
Condition:
Good used condition overall with signs of use and wear commensurate with age, some aged patina and light surface wear and scratches.
Approx measurements:
1.25" length including bale
1" width
5.70 grams weight
