Antique Georgian paste lace pin, Flower, Sterling silver brooch

This antique Georgian foiled back paste lace pin is so unusual and alluring.

Made from sterling silver it is designed as a flower head and is set with sparkling clear paste stones.

This was most likely a lace or fichu pin based on its size, used to secure lace or silk ruffles at the neckline of a lady or gentleman, a functional piece of jewellery, beautiful in its own right.

It could of course also be used as a brooch, adorning your lapel or jacket, it has an old c type clasp fastener and is quite a heavy brooch for its size.

Unusual and beautiful, this would make a wonderful gift or a welcome addition to any antique jewellery or lace pin collection.

Marks and era:
Late Georgian era, c1800s, unmarked, tests as sterling silver

Condition:
Good used condition overall, some light surface wear and overall dark patina, some paste with discoloration probably of the foil backing.
