There is something special and quite simply mesmerising about antique seal fobs.
This fine French Georgian intaglio seal fob is crafted in 9ct gold with an openwork design and an integral bale with a gold bezel frame.
It is set with an oval cut, rich red carnelian stone which has been very well carved with a carrier pigeon, soaring through the skies carrying an envelope over a landscape scene.
It has the words Depeche Vous engraved o the above the bird and this translates to Hurry Up.
A wonderful historic piece, it looks fantastic worn on an antique gold chain or attached to a chunky gold Albert chain.
Marks and era:
It is unmarked, tests as 9ct gold, Georgian era, c1790s
Condition:
Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, some light surface wear, some small dings to the gold struts.
Approx measurements:
1.25" height / length
0.95" width at the base
0.70" depth at the base
