A pretty antique 9ct yellow and Rose gold shield shaped locket.
It is a tiny dainty piece and comes in a later vintage 9ct Rose gold trace link chain necklace.
Edwardian era it has an elaborately engraved front with ivy leaves and foliate, a very detailed little locket, ivy being full of symbolism, meaning evergreen or eternal, often used in romantic sentiment pieces to symbolise everlasting love and also found on mourning pieces too.
The back has a plain polished finish and is fully hallmarked.
Internally it has two compartments but no glazed covers, one containing an old photograph.
Fully hallmarked for 9ct gold, Birmingham assay office, 1904,maker S Bros.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some light surface wear commensurate with age and use, small ding to the reverse, significant thinning to the lockets integral bale.
Approx measurements:
0.75" length with bale
0.5" width
16" chain length
Weight approx 3.27 grams collectively.
