A beautiful antique, late Victorian Ruby snake ring.
Coils of buttery 9ct, antique yellow gold forming the entwined bodies of two snakes, the heads are both well detailed and both set with a gorgeous rich reddish Pink Ruby, it has decorative cut out shoulders forming the snakes bodies.
The rubies are both a good size, approx 0.32ct collective weight, estimated in setting, one Ruby is significantly dulled in comparison to the other.
The snake ring was catapulted into popularity when Queen Victoria received a snake ring from her beloved Albert.
Stamped to the inner front of the band in two areas 9.375 for 9ct gold, late Victorian era, English make.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, minor surface wear, commensurate with age, one Ruby is dulled.
Ring face Approx 13mm length, back of the band Approx 4mm width
