A gorgeous antique, late Victorian era 18ct gold and diamond buckle ring.
Rich and buttery 18ct yellow gold with warm hues, it has a belt and buckle design to the front.
Within the buckle design is housed a pretty sparkling diamond in a gypsy style setting, giving the ring an extra bit of sparkle to it.
The band graduates higher to the front than the back and it has a very slight low d profile.
Fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1898, 18ct gold, maker Henry Matthews.
The buckle brings us lots of sentiment in Victorian jewellery, it symbolised fidelity both romantically and in friendship, the idea of being bound together and bringing two pieces as one.
It was often used in mourning pieces too, symbolising the never ending loop and loyalty forever.
I think this one was gifted as a symbol of eternal love, it has a warm and loving aura to it to match it's warm golden hues.
Condition:
Good overall with age commensurate wear and signs of use, surface wear and scratches present, a little rubbing to the hallmarks, diamond is bright and no looseness.
Total weight: 2.07g.
UK/AU ring size L
US ring size 5½
EU ring size 51¾
