Victorian Silver Day and Night brooch, Owl and Swallow, 9ct gold

A stunning antique Victorian, rare day to night brooch.

It is an aesthetic era piece with lots of aesthetic design shining through.

The brooch is an ellipse shape in engraved silver combining two overlapping circles to the front.

One circle represents night and is finished in grey gunmetal with a beautiful silver owl and moon design, representing night.

The other has an applied yellow gold Swallow on a silver background representing day.

Both circles have a rose gold border.

This is a very unusual and beautiful piece.

It has an old C type clasp, marked on the reverse Std, Aesthetic era, Victorian c1880s, tests as sterling silver and gold.

Condition:
Good used condition overall, some general signs of use and wear, surface marks / scratches commensurate with age.
