An attractive antique, Victorian, Whitby Cross pendant.
A large Chunky carved Whitby Jet cross, made from two separate pieces of jet with a large metal jump ring bale to the top.
The jet is high polished for a rich glossy shine.
It comes on a later sterling silver belcher link chain with a lobster clasp fastener.
A very attractive piece, suitable for men or women.
Jet was a popular choice for mourning jewellery but black jewellery was also seen in the Victorian era for fashion purposes.
Condition:
Good condition overall, some wear / rusting to the metal bale, some minor surface wear to the jet.
