You can't help but be charmed by this truly magnificent antique 18ct yellow gold signet ring.

It has a shield shaped face with no engraving so could be personalised if desired, an unusual find on such an early signet, mid Victorian era, these have usually been monogrammed.

It has chunky raised deeply engraved shoulders.

It has a wide smooth polished 18ct gold band, the ring has both rose and yellow gold tones to it but is mostly finished in yellow gold.

It has full hallmarks to the inner band.

It is a nice weighty ring and chunky ring and would make a perfect gift.

Signet rings derive their name from the Latin for signature, they were popular throughout history in men's jewellery and were often carved with family crests or signatures and used as stamps or intaglios, later they remained popular as a fashion choice and they have remained a popular piece of mens jewellery since their creation.
