A gorgeous antique 9ct Rose gold signet ring.
It has a shield shaped face with an engraved monogram of initials, this is a little worn but I believe it is SMM.
It has a smooth tapered gold band with decorative grooved shoulders.
Fully hallmarked for 9ct gold Birmingham 1912.
It is a nice weighty ring, perfect as a pinky ring.
Signet rings derive their name from the Latin for signature, they were popular throughout history in men's jewellery and were often carved with family crests or signatures and used as stamps or intaglios, later they remained popular as a fashion choice and they have remained a popular piece of mens jewellery since their creation.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some surface wear and surface scratches commensurate with age, evidence of a previous resize.
