It has a large metal pin and C type clasp, the pin protruding slightly further than the brooch rim.

It is marked on the inner reverse 830 along with some other marks, unidentified.

Late 19th century / early 20th century.

It comes in a fitted antique antique brooch box with a manufacturers in Rome so possibly an early Italian piece or Russian.

Perhaps one of the most beautiful things about this piece is it's owner history, owned by a Russian lady of a family whom escaped Russia during the Russian revolution, they travelled across the world eventually arriving in Manchuria.

The family were later forced to flee again, this time to South Africa, before eventually settling in England.
