A gorgeous antique, late Victorian Crescent moon and Crown brooch.

A beautiful open crescent moon in rich 15ct yellow gold with a gold crown looped over the moon and resting at the centre.

The crown is set with creamy seed pearl.

Crescent moons were a popular motif in Victorian jewellery, they are attributed to a number of meanings from feminine strength to changes or new beginnings / chapters.

Crowns may symbolise many things including Royalty, nobility and heraldry, importance, Victory and being victorious and authority and power.

Combined this makes for a powerful message hidden within this beautiful antique brooch.

This brooch can be worn in many ways and is a stunning, versatile piece, it would look great worn on a lapel or even affixed across your favourite gold chain for a celestial twist.

Lots of symbolism and meaning wrapped up into this pretty little piece.

The brooch is stamped on the reverse 15ct, late Victorian era, c1890s.

It has an old C type clasp and pin fastener and a small loop for adding a safety chain if desired.

Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, tiny ding to the front left side, some manufacturers air holes to the reverse.
