You can't help but be charmed by this impeccable antique, mid Victorian Ruby snake ring.

Coils of rich yellow gold form the body of these handsome intertwined snake friend, the heads are modelled at the face of the ring with the snakes both having ruby set eyes.

The snakes are very detailed and have a lovely engraved design with a happy expression.

This is a substantial piece, exceptionally well made with a significant weight a lovely chunky piece.

The snake ring was catapulted into popularity when Queen Victoria received a snake ring from her beloved Albert, they were popular tokens of love and snakes in the Victorian era symbolised eternal love.

Snakes were of course used in jewellery much earlier than the Victorian era though with the ancient Egyptian's believing they had the power to cure and heal.
