This antique foiled back Cabochon Garnet pendant is the epitome of Victorian beauty in jewellery.
The rich colours and elegant styling give this piece a real luxe feel and and I don't know about you but it is hard to resist such juicy cabochon garnets!
The garnets are a very deep dark red but present as a rich blood red due to the foil backing.
There are two garnet cabs one large round and one below this antique oval shape in an ornate 9ct gold setting, with a closed back and lovely warm glow to the gold, suspended from the oval cab there is a small articulated drop which holds a pear cut Aquamarine stone, this is likely a later replacement and there was probably a further garnet here originally.
Such a beautiful piece, it has an integral Gold bale, ready to hang from your favourite antique necklace or chain.
Marks and era:
Victorian era, c1880s, unmarked, electronically tests as 9ct gold.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some light surface wear commensurate with age, garnet with some light surface nicks, Aquamarine is likely a replacement.
