A beautiful antique, Georgian era paste Cross pendant.
A sterling silver cross adorned with old cut 'diamond' paste set into a foiled closed back setting.
The cross has had a large silver spring ring added making it perfect for adding to a neck mess or for a nice silver longuard chain.
It is Unmarked, early 19th century.
Paste is a type of Flint glass, specially hand cut and designed, used for centuries as an alternative to diamonds and gemstones with its roots going way back to the Roman empire, paste jewellery was highly sought after in the 18th and 19th centuries and is very collectable today.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some surface wear and signs of use commensurate with age, overall patina.
Total weight 4.28 grams.
Approx measurements:
2" length with bale / spring ring
