A beautiful and rare antique, Victorian era mourning pendant and necklace.

Made up from luscious rich, juicy bohemian garnet cabochons in a trefoil pattern, the centre is set with a diamond studded fly which has garnet eyes.

From the central section there is a further single garnet cabochon suspended.

The chain is a fancy yellow gold bar link chain with an integral garnet cabochon drop, this drop has a gold hook to the reverse from which the mourning pendant is suspended.

This type of fitting makes the piece very versatile and it could be used with or without the fly pendant for a day / night look or even with other pendants suspended.

To the reverse there is a glazed locket compartment with a yellow gold bezel for hairwork, the locket panel is held closed attached to the diamond fly.

A truly beautiful and scarce piece of Victorian mourning jewellery, lots of detailing packed into this impeccable piece.

English make, mid Victorian era, chain unmarked, tests as 18ct gold, pendant unmarked 9ct gold and the fly is set in silver.
