You can't help but be enchanted by this beautiful and rare antique owl and crescent moon pendant necklace.
Did you ever come across such a beautiful and symbolic piece of antique jewellery?!
This magnificent necklace is a Y shaped pendant drop necklace, the pendant suspended from a fine 15ct yellow gold trace chain.
The pendant features a wonderful and well detailed owl in multi toned 15ct gold showing both rosey and green tones with ruby eyes perched on a crisp platinum moon.
The crescent is a closed style crescent and the platinum works so well for the design.
The pendant terminates with a small cultured pearl which adds a soft and delicate highlight, the design is very typical of the Edwardian era with some Victorian touches.
Edwardian jewellery tended to have much more delicate designs with great attention to detail and high quality materials.
Crescent moons were incredibly popular in the Victorian era as were all things animal themed, this fascination continued on into the early 20th Century.
Crescent moons are said to represent feminity, the feminine soul and change whilst owls were thought to represent wisdom, intelligence and protection amongst other things.
A find and beautiful piece of antique jewellery.
