An absolutely stunning Victorian pearl and diamond star pendant brooch.
Such an elegant and timeless design the star has been a popular motif in jewellery for many centuries and the Victorian era saw a huge rise in popularity for all celestial symbols.
This pendant / brooch represents the North star which was said to symbolise direction in life and finding guidance on your life path.
Set in a rich 18ct yellow gold frame the star is adorned with creamy seed pearls and split pearls with a central Old cut diamond feature.
It has a brooch fitting with a base metal pin and a later added safety clasp, the decorative pearl set bale can be removed so it can be worn as a brooch or added to wear as a pendant.
This is truly a magnificent piece and the craftsmanship really shows, it would make a wonderful gift for someone special or as a treat for yourself.
It comes in the original leather covered, horseshoe shaped jewellery box.
The pendant is marked 18c for 18ct gold.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some light surface wear, clasp is a later replacement, pin is base metal and has some bends but still functional.
