An interesting antique 9ct yellow gold seal or signet ring.

All is not as first appears with this beautiful large Carnelian piece, the smooth polished rich red Carnelian bears a hidden message on the reverse, it is carved to the underside with the initials AS in fancy gothic script.

It also has the words Dinny Forget engraved into the stone, meaning don't forget, derived from the Scottish language.

Possibly adapted from an earlier seal it is mounted into a 9ct yellow gold ring mount, bezel set with a light millegrain edging.

It has decorative split shoulders and a smooth polished band.

The ring is stamped 9ct to the band.

Signet rings derive their name from the Latin for signature, they were popular throughout history in men's jewellery and were often carved with family crests or signatures and used as stamps or intaglios, later they remained popular as a fashion choice and they have remained a popular piece of mens jewellery since their creation.

Good used condition overall, some light surface wear to both the stone and the gold, commensurate with age and use
